Welcome on Erik Meesters’ internetsite, author of the book "Mit Herz und Seele" (‘With Heart and Soul’)

For years I have been working on a book on Friedel Münch, Helmut Fath and their motorcycles. As well as being a navy man I have done a lot of research on them and I have tried to get in touch with as many persons involved as possible. Mr. Thomas Petsch received me warmly and provided me with all kind of information on the last Münch Mammut. Mrs. Fath’s contribution has been incredibly large, if only because she placed her private archive at my disposal. I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Ing. Peter Kuhn for his trust in me and for all information he gave me. Messrs. Hans van Dissel, Jan Heese, Bob Harrold, Helmut Diemer, Helmut Sing en Reinhard Jutzi not only gave me useful information, but both their enthusiasm and involvement were heartwarming.

When I set out to write I felt that I knew a lot of Münch’s and Fath’s history. Conversations with former employees, Münch authorities, family members and other passionate motorcycle lovers have taught me since that I actually knew next to nothing, even though I had had an earlier opportunity to meet Friedel Münch and ask him many questions.

I can now proudly announce that “Mit Herz und Seele” will be published this summer. The book offers the Münch/Fath history in detail: Helmut Fath’s steep path to the world championship as well as Friedel Münch’s inexhaustible urge to build heavy four cylinders. The text has been lavishly illustrated with historical material.
